16th GIF Young Scientists' Meetings (GYSM) Hebrew University with the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam
From 18th to 21st of June 2024, an international research workshop on "Remembering Genocides and Violent Conflicts: Intergenerational Memory and Post-History in Contemporary Societies" took place at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences.
21 researchers from various universities and colleges in Israel and Germany came together to present and discuss their current research. The topics of the lectures included ethnographic studies in museums and memorials, studies on the use of spaces, social media and AI technology in the context of memory, the impact of different genocides on communities.
The GIF Young Scientist Meeting was sponsored by the German Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development (GIF), organised by the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (Prof. Dr. Friederike Lorenz-Sinai) in cooperation with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Prof. Dr. Julia Resnik and Lance Levenson), in close cooperation with the Moses Mendelsohn Center at the University of Potsdam (Prof. Dr. Miriam Rürup and Prof. Dr. Gideon Botsch) and the House of the Wannsee Conference Memorial and Educational Site.
