According to the apprenticeship act, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is the competent body for vocational training for media and information services specialists in the public service of the state of Brandenburg. Its tasks include monitoring the implementation of vocational training and providing training advice.

Part-time qualification as a Sspecialist for media and information services (specialisation: archive)
The state office for archives and public libraries Brandenburg and the further education unit of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam offer the opportunity to acquire a part-time qualification as a specialist for media and information services in the field of archives. Since the year since 2001 in five courses, a total of 82 participants from Brandenburg and Berlin, but also from other federal states, have successfully completed the complete the course.
Participants
The group of participants consists of employees in archives or archive-like institutions without job-related qualifications. As a rule, the prerequisite for admission is two and a half years of work in an archive or archive-like institution.
The offer is particularly aimed at employees of municipal administrations who have been entrusted with tasks in the archive (e.g. as administrative assistants) without having a special qualification in this area.
Aim
The aim is to provide subject-related vocational training that will enable participants to successfully pass a final examination as a specialist in media and information services in the field of archives before the State Examination Office for Administrative Careers in Oranienburg. Participants receive sound subject-related training and acquire basic knowledge of the structure, target groups, working objects and working materials in the neighbouring subject areas.
