Voting at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam
Academic self-administration is a structural expression of the freedom of teaching, research and study and is realised through participation in the university's committees. On this page you can find out when committee elections take place and who is responsible for them.
Board elections
All members and affiliates of the university elect the senate, the departmental councils and the equal opportunities commissioners.
The students also elect the student union executive committee (AStA) and the student councils (StuRa).
Elections to and work in the bodies are governed by the election regulations, the basic regulations, the statutes of the student body and the senate's rules of procedure.

Electoral boards
The central election committee and the decentralised election committees of the departments are responsible for the proper preparation and conduct of the elections at the university.
Central electoral board
According to § 2 paragraph 3 of the election regulations of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, the senate elects the central election committee from among the members of the university. This committee is responsible for the preparation and implementation of the election
- to the collegial bodies
- the University President
- the Vice Presidents
- the chairperson of the senate and his/her deputy.
The central election committee of the university consists of:

Decentralised electoral boards
To support the central election committee, the departmental councils shall each elect a decentralised election committee from among the members of the department. They shall include one representative from each group of members and members of the faculty. In cooperation and coordination with the central election committee, the decentralised election committees are responsible for the following in their respective departments
- The dean
- The vice-deans
- The chairperson of the departmental council and his/her deputy.
Election committee
According to § 4 paragraph 1 of the election regulations of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, the senate elects an election committee from among the university's members. The tasks of the election committee are to review the elections and to decide on election challenges at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. The committee consists of one representative from each group of the university's members.
The members of the university's election committee are:
