• History of art and images
• Digital Humanities: digital editions, image processing, 3D modelling
• Cultural techniques and medial change, media theory
• Documentation and mediation in Museum 4.0

• Prof. Dr. Andreas Bienert was born in Bielefeld in 1957 and has lived in Berlin since 1994.
• Art historian and Head of Digital Collections and Documentation at the General Directorate of the National Museums in Berlin – Prussian Cultural Heritage.
• Appointed honorary professor in the Arts Management and Cultural Work degree programme on 21 June 2017.
• Since 1996 co-organiser of the conference EVA-Berlin. Electronic Media and Visual Arts, since 2003 Chairman and co-editor of the annual conference proceedings.
• Participation in numerous international cooperation projects on the digital transformation of cultural heritage, electronic publishing and online access.
• 1992 to 1993 project manager of the computerised documentation at the Kunstmuseum Basel (CH), before that, since 1989, development of the digital catalogue of the collection holdings of the Kunstkredit Basel-Stadt.
• 1987 to 1989, collaboration in the electronic image editing of the Marburg Index – Inventory of Art in Germany published by K.G. Saur, Munich and the German Centre for Art Historical Documentation, Bildarchiv Foto Marburg.
• Doctorate in 1992 after studying art history, literature and linguistics at the Philipps-Universität Marburg and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich.
• Dissertation on the topic "Prison as a carrier of meaning. Studies on the history of penal architecture". Associated with this, longer research stays and archival studies in Venice, Florence and Rome.
