Part-time professorships

So-called part-time professorships are a special instrument for promoting application orientation and practical relevance. The award of a part-time professorship requires a main occupation that is related to the tasks of the professorship in a conducive content-related manner.

Requirements

A maximum of 20 percent of the professorships at the FHP may be filled as part-time professorships.

Appointment as a part-time professor requires an appointment procedure and fulfilment of the formal recruitment requirements for professors. Appointment as a part-time professor requires a full-time occupation with a conducive content-related connection to the tasks of the professorship, an appointment procedure and fulfilment of the formal recruitment requirements for professors.

Part-time professors use the title of professor. They are members of the university, i.e. they have active voting rights and belong to the group of professors.

Legal basis

The Brandenburg university act regulates part-time professors in § 60.

The procedure for appointing part-time professors is regulated in the appointment regulations of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam in § 30 ff. and essentially corresponds to the procedure for filling regular professorships.
