Prof Dr Michael Prytula is a member of the Brandenburg Scientific Climate Advisory Board

Tasks
The main task of the independent Climate Advisory Board is to provide scientific support for the monitoring process for the climate plan, including regular reviews of progress towards the climate targets. Every two years, for the first time in 2025, the state government will submit a climate report, which the advisory board will evaluate and make proposals for the further development of the climate plan.

Composition
The members of the Climate Advisory Board were appointed by the Ministry of Climate Protection on the recommendation of the responsible ministries and contribute expertise in all relevant areas of the climate plan, such as energy, industry, the heating transition, mobility, forestry and agriculture, the circular economy, bioeconomy, land use, peatland protection, municipal climate protection and social aspects of the energy transition. The advisory board also represents the diverse and well-developed research landscape for climate research in Brandenburg.

Background Climate Plan
With the Climate Plan of March 2024, Brandenburg is setting out a comprehensive strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen natural CO2 sinks. The plan comprises 103 measures in various areas and aims to combine climate protection with the state's economic development. It promotes the participation of all relevant stakeholders and supports the greenhouse gas reduction targets by 2045.

Personal details
Prof. Dr Michael Prytula has been a research professor for resource-optimised and climate-adapted construction at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam for the department of CITY | BUILDING | CULTURE and at the Institute for Applied Research Urban Future at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam since 2014.
In addition to his work at the FHP, he has been a member of the Climate Council of the state capital Potsdam since 2021 and a member of the Future Building Expert Committee of the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development at the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning since 2022.
