Library Associations BIB, dbv and VDB publish a new Website on Staff Recruitment in Libraries
The new web portal meinjob-bibliothek.de has been online since the 14th of December 2023. It offers all those interested in libraries – whether as trainees, students, potential employees or colleagues – comprehensive information on entry-level, training and career opportunities in the fascinating world of libraries.
In view of the cross-industry shortage of skilled workers, specialists and experts in the library profession, the meinjob-bibliothek.de portal aims to highlight the versatility and attractiveness of working in libraries. Young people, school leavers, high school graduates, first-year students and career changers will gain an insight into the various professions and then, the library associations in Germany hope, decide to enter the library world.
The joint expert commission of the library associations Deutscher Bibliotheksverband (dbv), Berufsverband Information Bibliothek (BIB) and the Verein Deutscher Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare (VDB ) have launched the new web portal. The aim is to provide insights into the diverse fields of work in academic and public libraries, provide information about training and qualification opportunities and also present development programmes for library staff.
