InNoWest – Brandenburg Universities become 'Innovative Universities'
The University of Applied Sciences (FHP), the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde (HNEE) and the University of Applied Sciences Brandenburg (THB) are receiving up to 15 million euros in funding from the federal-state programme for the joint project 'InNoWest – Einfach machen! Sustainable and digital together in North-West Brandenburg'.
Science Minister Dr. Manja Schüle opened the kick-off meeting of the joint project 'InNoWest – Einfach machen! "The joint project of HNEE, FHP and THB is a prime example of successful transfer: Firstly, because it focuses on two of the greatest challenges of our time with the implementation of digitalisation and the development of greater sustainability. Secondly, because it plays to the respective strengths of the three universities. Thirdly, because it deliberately focusses on the areas in the north-west of our country that are remote from universities. Fourthly, because it relies on the universities' proven presence centres. And fifthly – and this is particularly important to me – because the individual projects are to be implemented jointly and on an equal footing with the local players. To put it plainly: it's all about tangibly improving the quality of life for people in the triangle between Schwedt, Luckenwalde and Wittenberge. This is how the future is successfully created."
The joint project 'InNoWest – Simply do it! Sustainable and digital together in North-West Brandenburg' is being jointly implemented by the University of Applied Sciences (FHP), the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde (HNEE) and the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences (THB). Together with regional stakeholders from politics, administration, local authorities, small and medium-sized enterprises and civil society, they design and realise transfer projects for the region. The project focuses on three fields of innovation that combine regional needs and potential with the expertise of the universities:
- user-centred digitalisation for sustainable development
- sustainable remodelling through renovation and activation
- shaping society through participation and education for sustainable development
The project is being funded by the federal government and Brandenburg with up to 14.7 million euros until 2027 as part of the 'Innovative University' funding initiative of the Joint Science Conference. A total of 29 individual and collaborative projects across Germany were selected for funding.
