Inaugural Lecture by Prof. Dr. Ulrike Wuttke
On the occasion of her appointment as Professor of Library Science - Strategies, Service Development, Science Communication at the Department of Information Science, Prof. Dr. Ulrike Wuttke will give her inaugural lecture entitled "Alles #wisskomm? Paradigm shift in science communication".
Everyone is talking about science communication. The Stifterverband awards a Communicator Prize, Christian Drosten's tweets and podcasts achieve an unimagined reach, the largest publishing companies generate their profits not with publications but with data, libraries can barely pay the rising costs of publications, although the authors themselves are often asked to pay.
In her inaugural lecture, Prof. Dr. Ulrike Wuttke discusses the status quo of academic communication under digital conditions and dares to look ahead.
Who is using which channels, why and with what success? And what contribution can libraries make? A joint reflection on science communication and libraries in the globally networked world.
