Inaugural lecture by Prof Dr Franziska Geib
On the occasion of her appointment as Professor of Inclusive Work with People with Disabilities and Diversity at the Department of Social and Educational Sciences, Prof. Dr Franziska Geib will give her inaugural lecture on 4 November 2024 entitled "What understanding of inclusion does social work need?".
The term "inclusion" is not a dusty, everyday technical term - on the contrary: it is - whether positively or negatively connoted - on everyone's lips (or hands) and is usually used when it comes to whether people with disabilities are also included and allowed to participate.
In the lecture, the complexity of this fashionable term will be shown and then a concrete and multifaceted picture of a critical-reflective understanding of inclusion will be drawn along the definition of the subject and function of social work, which invites constructive inclusion development. Using a current research project and a real-life laboratory as a seminar format for research-based learning, Prof. Dr Geib will also illustrate this understanding and provide an insight into her main areas of work.
