Overview of the History of Childhood in the Children's Home Available Digitally
The catalogue on the German history of childhood in the home is now available digitally for teaching and study and offers a compact and richly illustrated overview of the history of institutional education in Germany on over 100 pages.
From the beginnings of state welfare in the German Empire, the catalogue for the exhibition "Geschichte der Kindheit im Heim" traces an arc from the reformist attempts at home education in the 1920s, the situation of welfare education in the Nazi era to home education in West and East Germany.
The publication from 2018 was created as part of the exhibition of the same name, which was presented in 2017 as a cooperation project between the "Großes Waisenhaus zu Potsdam" Foundation, the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam and the Babelsberg Film University under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Manfred Kappeler and Prof. Dr. Sabine Hering.
The digitised version, which is now accessible via the FHP university library, offers a compact and richly illustrated overview about the history of home education in Germany on over 100 pages.
