Gender-Equitable Appointment Procedures
President signs voluntary commitment to a resolution of the German Rectors' Conference
At its meeting on the 14th of May 2024, the General Assembly of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) approved the resolution "Towards more gender equality in appointments – Voluntary commitment of German universities". The resolution identifies specific goals and fields of action as well as measures that can contribute to the realisation of institutional cultural and structural change towards greater gender equality at universities. The universities united in the HRK are thus sending a clear signal that they are willing to take the necessary steps to achieve and ensure appropriate gender representation across all subjects and levels in the long term.
The President of the FHP, Prof. Dr. Eva Schmitt-Rodermund, signed the voluntary commitment on the 11th of July 2024. The objectives of the resolution are already reflected in the FHP's newly adopted Gender Equality Concept 2024, and many of the measures outlined are already being implemented at the FHP. Nonetheless, joining the pledge should now be taken as an opportunity to review the appointment procedures once again with regard to gender equality and – if necessary – improve them.
