After a break of almost two years, preparations for the 19th Concrete Canoe Regatta on the 14th and 15th of June are currently in full swing. The departments of Civil Engineering and Design are already busy shuttering, concreting and designing.

The concrete canoe regatta will take place for the 19th time in Brandenburg an der Havel from the 14th to the 15th of June 2024. Students from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam will once again be taking part, competing against teams from all over Germany in self-built concrete boats.

Preparations are already in full swing: last winter semester, the calculations for the canoe were carried out as part of the "Konstruktiv" project. These now serve, with a few adjustments, as the basis for the current design. The aim is to produce two boats for the sporting competition, each with a men's, women's and mixed team. In addition, the Casino of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is also producing a floating tram for the open class competition.

The concrete canoe regatta is more than just a sporting competition. This event is about the perfect combination of concrete construction technology, boat design and teamwork. The challenge: to build the lightest and most robust concrete canoe possible that floats and is fast.

Building on the success of the last regatta – including a gold medal for the most beautiful regatta shirt – the team from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is hoping for another award-winning regatta this year.

Support wanted

Anyone who would like to support the team is not only welcome to attend the regatta as a spectator, but is also welcome to make a small financial contribution. Information can be found in the call for donations for the Beton-Kanuregatta 2024.
