Study & Teaching

Applications for the Master of Arts for Designers are possible until the 15th of June 2024 – the course will start in the coming winter semester 2024/25.

In the two-semester Master's programme at the Department of Design , you have the opportunity to further your education in the specialisations of interface, communication and product design. The Master's degree programme at the Department of Design offers graduates the opportunity to expand their scientific and design skills following a first degree or after a period of employment.

The Master's thesis as a design project is at the centre of your studies – in terms of content and design. The Master's thesis is supervised by two professors and accompanied by accompanying seminars and courses in accordance with the principles of 'research-based learning' . In addition, research and development projects in cooperation with companies and institutes enable students to play a key role in design development processes and to help shape these as part of their Master's thesis.

A prerequisite for admission is a completed university degree in a design-oriented degree programme and successful participation in the aptitude test in the form of a digital presentation of the proposed topic (proposal) for the Master's project and the portfolio. The proposal can be a topic of your own choice or be based on a project topic or research project specified by the Department of Design. You can find an overview of current project topics on the website of the Master's degree programme in Design.

A letter of motivation and a CV are also required for the application.

Registration for the aptitude test (online) is possible until the 15th of June. The presentations for the aptitude test will take place after the first pre-selection by invitation, probably on Monday, the 15th of July 2024 and will be held online via Zoom conference.
