Corpus for the Linguistic Analysis of Political Speeches from Romania
Digitisation of political speeches from Romania.
Daniel Biro
As part of Daniel Biro M. A.'s dissertation project on "Der politische Diskurs in Rumänien. Eine diachrone Analyse", published speeches by Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej and Nicolae Ceaușescu from the period 1945 to 1987 are being digitised. Only the digitised text corpus opens up the possibility of conducting a comprehensive frequency analysis of multi-word units or n-grams. The corpus will be supplemented by already digitally available speeches of Romanian heads of state from 1992 to 2020 and will show how solidarity and exclusion are realised linguistically in the different forms of government and periods of office. The project is affiliated with the Graduate School of Language and Literature at LMU Munich.
