Project Objective:
The apartment blocks of the Kikwajuni housing estate in Zanzibar City, which were built in the 1960s with the help of the GDR government, show massive microbial infestation on the façade surfaces in their current condition. On the basis of hygrothermal simulation calculations and a comparison with the condition of the geometrically identical and structurally very similar local buildings, damage mechanisms and possible renovation methods are to be determined.
