Prof. Dr. Eva Schmitt-Rodermund receives Certificate of Appointment for Second Term of Office
Science Minister Dr. Manja Schüle today presented Prof. Dr. Eva Schmitt-Rodermund with the official certificate of appointment as President of the FH Potsdam. Prof. Dr. Eva Schmitt-Rodermund was unanimously confirmed in office for a further six years in May 2024. Her second term of office begins on the 1st of January 2025.
Minister Dr. Manja Schüle congratulated the President on receiving the certificate: "Sharpening the profile, modernising governance, increasing public visibility: all of this is essential for a modern, innovative university. Prof. Eva Schmitt-Rodermund has played a key role in making the FH Potsdam fit for the future in recent years. The FHP stands for practice-oriented degree programmes, an international network and a personal atmosphere and offers numerous innovative degree programmes that are unique in Germany. And: the FHP is one of our drivers in the transfer sector: together with other universities, it designs and realises transfer projects for the region with stakeholders from politics, administration, local authorities, small and medium-sized enterprises and civil society. I hope that this fantastic development will continue. With this in mind: here's to a successful second term in office, Eva Schmitt-Rodermund!"
Commenting on her re-election, the President said: "The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam has developed very well. With its 32 attractive, application-oriented degree programmes, it has been able to buck the state trend and maintain its student numbers. The university's third-party funding has almost doubled in recent years. Its efficiency and innovative creativity are also demonstrated by a large number of start-ups and exciting transfer and organisational activities. From this solid basis, we will now move forward together. We will tap into new, international student groups, address social issues such as sustainable construction by offering appropriate courses, further develop teaching and research across university and subject boundaries in an interdisciplinary manner and make our structures fit for analogue, digital and AI-enhanced forms of teaching and learning. Finding the time we need to do this will be our first priority. I am very pleased that I will be able to accompany this extraordinary university on its path in the future."
