On the 6th of February 2024, representatives of the campaign alliance "Potsdam! bekennt Farbe" came to the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam for an orientation meeting. The reason for this meeting was the university's upcoming membership of the alliance, which campaigns for democracy, tolerance and cosmopolitanism and actively combats violence, right-wing extremism and misanthropy.

"Potsdam! bekennt Farbe" is committed to a tolerant and open-minded urban society. It actively opposes right-wing extremist, right-wing populist and misanthropic attacks and developments. With currently 58 members, it unites civil society and state organisations, institutions, private and municipal companies as well as democratic parties and parliamentary groups of the Potsdam City Council (SVV).

Prof. Dr. Eva Schmitt-Rodermund, President of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam: "Our campus remains colourful! At a time when anti-democratic tendencies are on the rise, it is crucial that we as a university actively fulfil our responsibility. Educational institutions play a key role in shaping the society of tomorrow, and our participation in this alliance sends a strong signal: We stand for a future in which diversity and dialogue are the cornerstones of our community."

In addition, the alliance "Potsdam! bekennt Farbe" alliance, chaired by the current mayor, is itself a member of the state-wide "Aktionsbündnis Brandenburg gegen Gewalt, Rechtsextremismus und Rassismus" alliance, which underlines the networking and cooperation at state level.
"Potsdam! bekennt Farbe" is an open action alliance, a network and information pool that welcomes new members from all areas of the city's society, provided they commit to the alliance guidelines adopted in 2019.

The AStA of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam has already been a member of "Potsdam! bekennt Farbe." since the 11th of May 2023.
