On 19 September 2024, the Luckenwalde Presence Centre was awarded first place in the "EDI Community Engagement Initiative of the Year" category at the European "Triple E Awards on Entrepreneurship and Engagement Excellence in Higher Education 2024". The prestigious award was presented during the awards ceremony in Lisbon.

Strong regional and community engagement

The international award recognises the presence centre's regional and social commitment to a sustainable and inclusive educational world, the idea of entrepreneurship and its promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion in local communities.
The Luckenwalde Presence Centre, which is run by the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau (TH Wildau) and the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (FHP) in cooperation with the city of Luckenwalde, is one of seven university presence centres in the state of Brandenburg.
Among renowned European finalists in eleven categories, the Luckenwalde campus competed with four other outstanding projects from the Technical University of Munster (Ireland), the United Nations University-MERIT and the University of Maastricht (Netherlands), the European University of the Atlantic (Spain) and University College London (United Kingdom).
Manuel Haberland (TH Wildau) and Marta Domurat-Linde (FHP) accepted the award on behalf of the five-person team from the presence centre, headed by Prof. Dana Mietzner, Professor of General Business Administration with a focus on Innovation and Regional Management at the TH Wildau and Prof. Antje Michel, Professor of Information Didactics and Knowledge Transfer at the FH Potsdam.

About the award
The Triple E Awards were launched in 2019 by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU) and are the first awards to focus specifically on various dimensions of universities' "third mission".
The Münster-based "Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities" is a leader in quality assurance for entrepreneurship and engagement in higher education. The Triple E Awards have a continental focus (Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific) and include different categories to cover the diversity of engagement in higher education.
The award winners are selected in a two-stage process by an international expert jury of university leaders, education, research, management and business professionals. All universities and related institutions, such as university-affiliated technology transfer centres or incubators, are eligible to participate. Individuals can also participate in the relevant categories.
The presentation of the Triple E Award 2024 was a highlight of the ACEEU Europe-Africa Forum 2024, which provided an excellent platform for experts, the finalists, accredited institutions and partners to network and promote new ideas.

About the Luckenwalde Presence Centre
In rural areas of Brandenburg, many companies and civil society actors do not have direct access to universities. To counteract this problem, the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg (MWFK) is funding seven university offices in regional growth centres. Together with the Luckenwalde Regional Growth Centre and the two universities, the Luckenwalde Presence Centre is committed to intensifying networking between science, society and the regional economy and to strengthening knowledge and technology transfer in the region. The presence centre creates event formats in which knowledge is imparted and an open exchange between various stakeholder groups is encouraged.
The presence centre team is also available for advice and networking in Brandenburg's scientific landscape. The presence centre combines various focal points: a makerspace, a coworking space and a showroom with the opportunity to exhibit technical developments or prototypes as well as research results from the universities.
