Inaugural lecture by Prof Dr Helga Schmid
To mark her appointment as Professor of Design Theory and Design Research at the Department of Design, Prof Dr Helga Schmid will give her inaugural lecture entitled: "TAKE YOUR TIME - Take your time and redefine it!".
In this day and age, we as a society are facing many challenges. How do we want to live together now and in the future and what priorities do we want to set? What alternative approaches are there to think about new forms and generate discourse?
Creativity is one of the decisive factors for the lively further development of our society. Experimental design research and design theory are one way to actively participate in this change. Following a holistic approach (more than human), a critical and speculative approach, and a participatory approach, the aim is to stimulate social participation processes and question existing norms. At the interface of design, art, new technologies and science, the aim is to break new ground without succumbing to the acceleration pressures of our time.
