Do I Say It? – Dealing with your Own Disabilities or Chronic Illnesses

In the online event, the digital inclusive expert network of the Arbeitsagentur will provide information about possible difficulties in the working world and present a project at the University of Cologne designed to support those affected.

Do I say it? This question concerns many people with disabilities or chronic illnesses at very different stages of their professional career. For some, it is a question of entering the labour market with social security contributions and for others it may be a change of career with a new employer. The experiences made in an application and selection process can be very different for those affected.

When or at what point does it make sense to disclose my own impairments? – Are my disabilities or chronic illnesses generally a weakness or perhaps even an essential strength?

In principle, there is no one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to coming out and dealing with one's own disabilities in a work context.

The University of Cologne has therefore dedicated an entire project to this topic in order to get a little closer to possible answers. In this virtual iXNet event, Dr. Jana Bauer will give us an insight into the project and the website developed and discuss relevant aspects of the decision.

Would you like to take part? Then register by the 10th of June using the online form.

Please let us know in advance if you require sign language or written language interpreters! Please also note that special needs for barrier-free participation communicated after the 10th of June 2024 can no longer be guaranteed.
