Background and goals

Many companies and a large part of civil society lack direct access to universities in the predominantly rural region of Brandenburg. For this reason, the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg(MWFK) supports so-called regional presence centres in regional growth cores(RWK). Fifteen cities and city associations are being supported in strengthening their, primarily economic, potential. The Brandenburg universities are responsible for setting up, expanding and anchoring the presence centres in the region.

Procedure and tasks

The concept was to use an 800 square metre hall in a commercial courtyard to initiate and support new opportunities for university cooperation with companies, the Luckenwalde Regional Growth Core and civil society. In close cooperation with various actors in the region and the early integration of citizens, a lively university presence was created.

The facility aims to combine four main areas of content: a makerspace, a co-working space, a test bed to try out new technologies and a showroom with the possibility of exhibiting technical developments or prototypes from the universities. This creates a starting point for discussion with potential business partners, possible users and civil society.

The Luckenwalde Presence Centre is a project funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg (MWFK).

The office is located in the Gewerbehof, Beelitzer Straße 24, 14943 Luckenwalde.
