"Brandenburg shows a Stand!": FH Potsdam supports Call for Democracy and Cohesion

The "Neues Potsdamer Toleranzedikt" association launched the "Brandenburg zeigt Haltung!" campaign back in 2022. In light of current events, it has decided to launch a new appeal and call on people in the state to act together. The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam is one of the first signatories.

Prof. Dr. Eva Schmitt-Rodermund, President of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam: "The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam will not tolerate anti-democratic tendencies. The freedom of research and teaching, a central component of the academic ethos, is underpinned by democratic principles. We must not only protect our own democratic structures and our more diverse and international campus, but also take a clear stance in favour of an open, inclusive and diverse society."

Excerpts from the goals of the "Brandenburg zeigt Haltung!" campaign:

• We are committed to a democratic, tolerant and cosmopolitan Brandenburg.
• We are in favour of a diverse society based on solidarity.
• We are in favour of open discussion, objective debate and respectful interaction with one another.
• We want to live in a society in which all people are accepted and respected in their diversity. Racism, anti-Semitism, intolerance, hatred and marginalisation have no place here.
