The most important and interesting Numbers in Maths

Presentation/Lecture

It is about five numbers that you encounter at every turn in mathematics and its many sub-areas.

It's about five numbers that you come across at every turn in maths and its many subfields – sometimes in places where you would never have expected to find them. The star of the evening is – how could it be otherwise – the famous and "mysterious" circle number pi. But the stars are also the mathematicians from four millennia who have worked on these numbers. It's about taxi numbers, sultana rolls and, incidentally, there is also an insight into the very special mathematical humour.
