Navigating Cultural Diversity: Building Intercultural Competencies and Skills

In this workshop with Özlem Canyürek, students will learn what intercultural competencies and skills are and their relevance.

Working in a culturally diverse environment presents both opportunities and challenges. In this workshop, students will learn about the necessary intercultural competencies and skills to navigate these challenges and engage in cultural exchange, addressing issues of discrimination and racism. The session begins with a brief introduction to key concepts such as cultural diversity, interculturality, and intersectionality, followed by an exploration of what intercultural competencies and skills are and their relevance. The workshop is structured into several components, allowing students to participate in discussions, exchange ideas, and work in groups. Through practice-oriented strategies and real-life scenarios, students will learn how to build intercultural competencies to overcome cultural barriers.

The workshop is part of Work@Heart 's "Internationalisation and Intercultural Competence" certificate programme. Upon successful participation, participants will receive a meaningful certificate or confirmation of participation.
