Torsten Schöbel, M. A. / Art in Context, has been a lecturer for special tasks in the European Media Studies programme since 2008, a cooperative study programme of the University of Potsdam (Institute for Art and Media) and the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (Department of Design). From 2003 to 2008 Torsten Schöbel was an artistic assistant in the Department of Plastic Design and in the Department of Fine Arts at the Technical University of Berlin in the Architecture programme. From 2001 to 2012 Torsten Schöbel was a lecturer at the Institute for Art in Context at the University of the Arts Berlin and in 2007 and 2009 a visiting professor for New Media at the University of the Arts Berlin in the Chinese-German Master's programme in Fine Arts at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China. Torsten Schöbel studied art at the University of Art and Design Linz, the Accademia di Belle Arti Bologna and the University of the Arts Berlin. Before studying at university, he trained as a stone sculptor. In 2020, he was honoured with the state teaching award for outstanding teaching.
