QUADRIGA is the Berlin-Brandenburg Data Competence Centre for Digital Humanities and Administrative Science. It is supported by the two basic sciences of computer science and information science. It brings together four disciplines along the three data types of text, table and moving image at the Berlin-Brandenburg research centre.
QUADRIGA's content-based approach combines research, learning and networking locations via data-based case studies and educational programmes. This provides resources for researchers at all career levels to confidently handle data in everyday research. Through the basic disciplines of computer science and information science, the application domains are qualified to develop digital methods for their specific questions and data types in the research locations of the Data Competence Centre. The research centres provide relevant data sets, standards and methods for the learning locations by means of case studies on the data types moving image, text and table.
Specific training programmes are created and implemented in the learning locations based on the case studies. The aim of the educational programmes is to impart data skills to researchers at all career levels in a discipline-related manner in continuing education that is independent of time and place.
In the networking locations, general data science principles and domain-specific application are mediated by addressing scientific and social needs through innovative formats of science communication and transfer. Thus, QUADRIGA creates a place for cooperation and exchange within the scientific disciplines as well as meeting spaces for stakeholders from business and society in order to meet the challenges of digital transformation competently, critically informed and to be able to help shape them.
As a subject-specific, regional centre with complementary partners, QUADRIGA has great appeal far beyond the borders of Berlin-Brandenburg as a science location due to its involvement with the respective associations. It is also characterised by the digital data culture practised in day-to-day research by bundling the diversity and expansion of the methodological basis and systematic skills development around the data types text, table and moving image.
