Science in Brandenburg is as diverse as the region itself. In order to make the latest research findings accessible to a wide audience, scientists present themselves at the 2nd Brandenburg Science Slam.

The participants of the Science Slam compete in a contest of science and present their research topics in a humorous and understandable way. The 2nd Brandenburg Science Slam brings science to places where you wouldn't normally expect it, such as your favourite pub, a theatre or a hangar. The Science Slam is organised throughout the state of Brandenburg and takes place at various locations. The presence centres of the universities in the state of Brandenburg bring science directly to those hungry for knowledge in the regions.

The patron of the slam, Dr. Manja Schüle, Minister of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg, emphasises the importance of this event: "Scientific topics in a short and understandable way: That's what you get at the 2nd Brandenburg Science Slam – not in the lecture theatre or seminar room, but in the Brauhaus, the Kulturfabrik or the Hangar, for example. On stage, researchers and scientists not only have to prove their clever minds, but also their performance potential. After all, that is the goal of all science communication: to reach people. The closer to life, the better. That's why I value the Brandenburg Science Slam as a format so much. The enthusiasm for science and research is spread throughout the country in an entertaining way. I would like to thank the seven presence offices at our universities for organising the event and look forward to exciting, informative and innovative presentations. With this in mind: Clear the stage for science!"

Science slam at the Luckenwalde attendance centre

The future of our water, why we should (perhaps) play more Monopoly with our children or what maths has to do with happier pupils - the five scientists from four different universities in Brandenburg will inspire the audience with these and other exciting topics at the Luckenwalde presence centre. And the guests will also be catered for. Registration is required.

About the presence centres of the universities

The presence centres strengthen science and research in the regional growth cores (RWK) and their surrounding areas. A total of seven presence centres in the state of Brandenburg support the exchange of knowledge and technological expertise and promote social access to scientific topics/projects in the respective region. The concept for expanding the presence of the universities refers to the implementation of the Brandenburg Transfer Strategy to improve co-operation between science, business, politics and civil society.
In addition to study and further education orientation, presence centres bring university graduates together with companies in the region, are available for networking and cooperation and offer region-specific events on current research and transfer topics.

The University of Applied Sciences Potsdam runs the presence centre Luckenwalde together with the TH Wildau. The local staff are happy to provide information about the region, cooperation opportunities and advice.
