The Media Innovation Centre in Babelsberg (MIZ) has a new funding programme for technically innovative projects in the field of media and journalism. Media experts, students, graduates and start-ups can apply until the 3rd of March.

What is funded?

Selected technically innovative projects for journalism are funded with up to 40,000 euros through the MIZ funding programme. Applications can be submitted by individuals or project teams based in Berlin or Brandenburg. Ideally, the projects/projects should have a positive effect on the innovative strength of Berlin-Brandenburg as a media location or offer the potential to do so. This refers to solutions that make media and journalism fit for the future despite current challenges. This includes combating disinformation and strengthening local journalism and news expertise.

How is funding provided?

  • up to 40,000 euros
  • individual coaching worth up to 1,500 euros
  • access to the professional MIZ network in the media industry
  • office workspace at MIZ Babelsberg
  • access to the radio and TV studio and production technology

The specific support depends on the respective professional experience.

Who is supported?

  • students, graduates and start-ups (up to three years after graduation or foundation)
  • media professionals (at least five years of professional experience)

The funding period is flexible depending on requirements and lasts a maximum of twelve months.

Application deadline is the 3rd of March 2024.
